Website security & compliance

Security hardening for your website, along with privacy compliance basics like cookie consent banners, so the site is both safe and compliant with how it collects data.

In depth

What website security & compliance really involves

Small business sites get hacked far more often than owners expect, and mostly not through anything clever. Outdated plugins, weak passwords, forms with no spam protection, and admin logins that anyone can find. Attackers run automated scans looking for the easy ones, and a small site is as good a target as a large one.

Most of the defence is basic hygiene done consistently: HTTPS everywhere, software kept up to date, strong unique logins with two-step verification where possible, limited admin access, proper backups, and a form setup that blocks spam bots. Add sensible security headers and you've covered most of what actually happens in practice.

Compliance is the other half. If you collect personal data, you need a clear privacy policy, honest cookie handling where required, and a plan for what you store and for how long. Rules differ between India, the US and elsewhere, and we aren't lawyers, so for anything formal take legal advice. What we do is build the site so it's possible to comply, and doesn't collect more than necessary.

What's included

What we set up for you

A security review: SSL, form handling, admin access, and common vulnerability points

A plain-language summary of what's protected and what's still your responsibility

How it goes

How we approach website security & compliance

01

Review the current setup

We check HTTPS, software versions, admin access, forms and backups, and list weaknesses by seriousness.

02

Close the obvious gaps

Updates, strong logins, spam protection, secure headers and limited access get put in place first.

03

Privacy and data handling

We review what the site collects, make sure policies match reality, and set up consent where it applies.

04

Backups and a recovery plan

Regular backups, tested restores, and a simple plan for what to do if something goes wrong.

Ideal for

Who this fits

01

Sites collecting personal data through forms or checkout

02

Businesses that have never had a security review done

Watch out for

Common mistakes, and how we avoid them

Shared admin passwords

One password passed around by everyone is a risk. We set up individual accounts.

Copy-pasted privacy policy

A policy that doesn't match what the site does can create problems. We align them.

Ignoring updates

Many breaches use known flaws already fixed in newer versions. Staying current matters.

Website security & compliance: common questions

It's necessary but not sufficient. It protects data in transit. You still need updates, safe logins, backups and form protection.
