Website redesign / rebuild

A modern rebuild of a slow, outdated, or hard-to-manage website, without starting from zero on the parts that already work.

In depth

What website redesign / rebuild really involves

People redesign websites for two main reasons: it looks old, or it's not producing enquiries. Those are different problems, and the fix differs. Sometimes a visual refresh is enough. Sometimes the structure, the speed or the message is the real issue, and no amount of new colour will help.

The risky bit nobody mentions is search. If your current site gets traffic, a careless rebuild can wipe it out overnight, through changed URLs without redirects, deleted pages or rewritten headings that no longer match what people search. A good redesign begins by finding out what's working and protecting it.

So before touching design we look at what you have: which pages bring visitors, which pages bring enquiries, and which ones are dead weight. Then we decide what to keep, rewrite or retire. Our blog post on when a redesign is worth it covers the decision in more depth, if you're still deciding.

How it goes

How we approach website redesign / rebuild

01

Audit what exists

We review traffic, rankings, speed and page content, and list what's performing and what isn't.

02

Plan the new structure and redirects

Every old URL gets mapped to a new one. That map is what keeps your existing search visibility intact.

03

Redesign and rebuild

New design, faster build, updated content, all on a staging link you can review before anything goes live.

04

Launch and watch

After launch we check redirects, indexing and rankings closely for a few weeks and fix anything that slipped.

Ideal for

Who this fits

01

Sites that feel slow or dated

02

Businesses that have outgrown their current website

Watch out for

Common mistakes, and how we avoid them

Changing URLs without redirects

It's the quickest way to lose rankings. Every changed address gets a redirect.

Redesigning because of taste, not data

'It looks dated' may be true, but check whether the problem is actually conversion or speed first.

Launching on a Friday evening

Problems found on a weekend sit unfixed. We launch when someone can respond.

Website redesign / rebuild: common questions

A small, temporary wobble is normal after any big change. Large drops usually come from missing redirects or removed content, which we plan to avoid.
